Rice Porridge
Ingredients
- 1 cup short-grain glutinous rice (jasmine or pearl)
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 4 1/2 cups milk
- cinnamon sugar, to taste
Method
- Rinse and drain the rice.
- In a saucepan over high heat, bring the water, butter, and salt to a boil.
- Pour in the rice stirring constantly to prevent sticking.
- Reduce heat to low, continue stirring until reduced to a simmer.
- Cover the pot and let cook 15 minutes.
- Uncover and stir in the milk.
- Bring to a boil while stirring constantly.
- Reduce heat to low.
- Cover and let cook 45 minutes.
- Serve warm with cinnamon sugar to taste.
