Maple Butter Tarts
Ingredients
- 12 large or 24 small unbaked tart shells - use pie crust recipe
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1/4 cup corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg lightly beaten
Pecan Variation
- Preheat oven to 425°F.
- Prepare tart shells.
- Whisk together all other ingredients.
- Pour mixture into tart shells.
- (Pecan variation: sprinkle nuts on top of each tart).
- Bake until pastry is light brown and filling is bubbly (about 15-20 minutes).
- Cool on wire rack.
